Pirates of the Caribbean 5 will be shot in Port Douglas and the Gold Coast after an exclusive deal between Screen Queensland and Walt Disney Studios. With filming starting in mid 2015 and the movie release date set for 7 July 2017.
With the federal government offering a $21.6 million and the
Queensland State government slashing payroll tax to help secure against competing bids by
Mexico and any interest from any other Australian states or Territories.
Ian Walker the Queensland Arts Minister explained it was tremendous news for the state's film industry saying
"
Pirates will bring $100 million of investment to this state, and that flows through to jobs," and
"we're already expecting 20,000 bed nights to be needed
to accommodate the cast and crew when they go to North Queensland, and
that will be in the tourism industry's off-season," he went on to say.
With Captain Jack Sparrow expected to be played by Johnny De ,
and reports Geoffrey Rush and Orlando Bloom will also return to their
roles as Captain Barbossa and Will Turner.
The film, supposedly called "
Dead Men Tell No Tales, will be filmed in the Village Roadshow studios on the Gold Coast,taking advantage of the
high-quality sound stages and three water tanks they have to offer.
So I wonder if Captain Jack Sparrow is looking for a new parrot to drive him absolutely nuts.
